What you can do to help
Be a wilderness hero! Our cherished existing wilderness areas came about because local people organized to make them so. Now it's our turn to advocate for a new generation of wilderness in our region – the Hidden Gems.
There are a ton of ways to help, most of them fun and relatively easy. Take your pick:
Join our email list. If you do just one thing now, do this, so that you receive timely alerts on events and opportunities for making a difference.
Sign on as a supporter. Let us list you in our publicity materials to show that the "silent majority" favor wilderness designation for the Gems.
Write a letter to your elected officials. Voice your opinion - Let your county commissioners, members of Congress know that you support more wilderness in your backyard and urge others to do the same. Every letter makes a significant difference.
Write a letter to the editor. Let your local newspaper and community know how important wildlands and the Hidden Gems Wilderness Proposal are. Choose where live to send your letter to the appropriate paper: Roaring Fork Valley, Vail Valley & Eagle County, Summit County, Gunnison County
Get out in the Gems - and take pictures! Enter your pictures in the Hidden Gems Photo Contest and help us build up a library of images that illustrate the "hidden-gemness" of these areas.
Use your connections. Let us know if you have a personal connection to Reps. Salazar and Polis or Sens. Udall and Bennet, and if you are willing to put them to work for wilderness.
Help with events. We need volunteers to help with event planning, tabling, publicity and other tasks.
Speak out! Become an official spokesperson for the Hidden Gems.
Talk it up! Recruit others to support the campaign.
